Mission Statement

To foster and improve the Army and Air National Guard of North Dakota through:

  1. Education of the public, and the state and national legislatures on the purpose and value of the National Guard in the Homeland Security Program.

  2. Promotion and improvement of relationships among all members of the North Dakota National Guard.

Vision Statement

A vibrant association that promotes 100% membership and active involvement of all Officers in the North Dakota National Guard in the formulation of resolutions that drive the improvement of the National Guard at the State and National level.

Non-Discrimination

The Corporation shall not adopt policies or conduct activities that discriminate against any person based on color, race, religion, sex, age, or national origin.

Non-Profit Status

Corporation net earnings shall not inure to the benefit of any director, officer, or member.

Insurance Program

The corporation will sponsor an insurance program available to members of the North Dakota National Guard and their families.

Enacted November 14, 2001:

The Corporation will participate in the Militia Insurance Trust and New York Life.

Whenever a vacancy in the Insurance Representative position exists the Board of Directors will, at a regular Board of Directors meeting, select a person to represent the Board and members of the NDNG in dealing with the Militia Insurance Trust and New York Life. The Secretary will record the name of the Association’s current insurance representative in the Directors’ meeting minutes.

Executive Director's Remuneration

$2,500.00 per year effective March 9, 2002.

Officers', Executive Director, and Director's Per Diem

The Executive Committee will determine if the net revenues of the Association will allow payment or reimbursement of the following items:

  1. The President’s and Executive Director’s travel, room and conference fees at the annual national NGAUS convention.

  2. The annual national NGAUS convention fee for all other members of the Executive Committee and Directors who attend and do not receive reimbursement from any other source.

  3. A pro-rata share of executive committee and director room and travel expenses.

Finance Committee

The Finance committee will obtain Executive Committee on long term investment proposals to have authority to write letters and finalize transactions with the Association’s Investment Agency.

Endorsement of Political Candidates

No member of the Association may use the Association’s name or reference the Association in any manner for endorsement of any political candidate.

Executive Director Spending Authority

The Association Executive Director shall have the authority to spend up to $500 of Association funds for any item needed for Association business.

Recognition Program for Officers of the Year

OUTSTANDING NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD COMPANY AND FIELD GRADE OFFICERS OF THE YEAR

The Association will recognize the outstanding field and company grade officers of the North Dakota Army and Air Guard at each year’s membership banquet. The immediate three past presidents will comprise the selection committee for the selection of these outstanding officers. The Immediate past President will serve as the Chair of the Committee and will announce the winners at that year’s membership meeting banquet. The Association’s Executive Director will act as archivist, recorder and facilitator for the committee.

This committee will request completed nomination forms from every commander, at and above the rank of lieutenant colonel, in the Army and Air National Guard no later than 60 days prior to each year's membership meeting.

Association members are only eligible to win once in either the company or field grad category for their service.

NATIONAL GUARD ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES INDIVIDUAL AND UNIT AWARDS PROGRAM

The Association Executive Director will solicit nominations for the NGAUS Individual and Unit Awards Program from the Executive Service Support Officers of the North Dakota Army and Air National Guard. The Association Executive Director will submit the nominations to the NGAUS in accordance with NGAUS procedures.

Executive Director's Annual Performance Review

The Association Executive committee will conduct an annual Performance Review of the Association Executive Director by 1 December of each year. The Executive Committee will then negotiate the subsequent year’s contract with the Executive Director and submit the results to the Association Board of Directors for approval at the next regular meeting of the Board.
